Research has identified a wide range of issues the impact of sexual exploitation has on children. The data showed that child victims experienced serious mental health risk that result in anxiety, fear, depression, suicide attempts and post-traumatic stress disorder in survivors. It was also concluded victims are often exposed to harsh physical conditions, health risk such as HIV/AIDS, infections, and substance abuse. The Child Welfare Information Gateway, a division of the United States Children Bureau, believe parents play a central role in the healing process. Additionally, evidence shows that support from a caring parent helps children effectively recover in the aftermath of a traumatic experience. This is why our organization strives to ensure mothers and daughters are adequately educated on the issues surrounding child sexual exploitation and are equipped with the strength, knowledge, love, and patience needed to prevent young girls from being victimized.
